According to the Military Police, the shooting started in the upper part of the community and was a confrontation between rival factions trying to dominate the region.
“According to the unit command, UPP teams and support from other units are already reinforcing policing in the community to prevent the movement of criminals involved in a territorial dispute. The terrain was stabilized and there were no injuries reported,” said the PM.
On social media, residents reported that the confrontation began early in the morning and continued until around 4 am. According to reports, drug traffickers from Comando Vermelho (CV) would have tried to invade Morro dos Macacos, which would currently be dominated by Teceiro Comando Puro (TCP).
The Rio Municipal Department of Education reported that nine school units were impacted due to the shootings in the region.
The Municipal Health Department said that the Recanto do Trovador Family Clinic continues to provide services to the population, but external activities carried out in the territory, such as home visits, were suspended this Wednesday morning (24).
