Video shows rescue of four tourists dragged by the current in Ubatuba, on the coast of SP

Firefighters rescued four tourists, this Friday (29), after they were swept away by a current on Itamambuca beach, in Ubatuba, on the north coast of São Paulo.

The family, who lives in São Paulo, was seen by the Marine Fire Brigade (GBMar) helicopter moving away from the coast after becoming trapped in a rip current at sea.

The three men — aged 23, 44 and 77 — and a woman whose age was not revealed were rescued without injuries. The victims were removed from the water and left in a safe place.

In the images of the rescue, it is possible to see the Firefighter helicopter approaching a rock to pick up the lifeguards and, using a net, throw them into the sea for rescue.

Once in the water, the agents and some surfers who were in the sea manage to help the family return to the sand strip.

According to the latest balance released by GBMar, from December 22nd to 25th, 93 swimmer rescues were carried out along the entire coast of São Paulo.

Three drowning deaths were recorded during the period. One in Praia Grande, one in Itanhaém and one in Guarujá, all cities on the south coast of the state.
