In a speech at night, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said that the Spanish power operator had restored the supply of energy to about half of the country.
The Spain Ministry of Interior declared a state of national emergency and the governments of both countries called for emergency ministerial meetings while authorities were trying to discover the cause of mass blackout.
