A 74 -year -old man, identified as Mohamad Mourad, was harassed on a beach in Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo, on Sunday afternoon (13). He reported that he carried two flags and wore clothes with Palestine symbols when he was assaulted by a group of people, who even thrown a plastic bottle toward him.
In video recorded by the victim herself, you can see the moment a man approaches and asks, “Palestine, isn’t it?” Then it hinders the recording while repeating the phrase “Palestine, no” several times. Close people try to contain the aggressor.
Watch the video:
The São Paulo Public Security Bureau reported that the Military Police were fired and was at the scene, but the group had already dispersed. The case was registered at the Guarujá Police Station as a discrimination practice.
“The municipality repudiates any episode of intolerance and reiterates that xenophobia is typified as a crime,” says the city.
