After receiving several anonymous complaints, the Military Police and the Petrópolis Animal Welfare Coordination (Cobis) acted together to identify the person in charge.
According to the PM, the horse owner was located and the driver of the vehicle was sent to the 105th DP, where he will provide clarifications and will be responsible for the crime of animal abuse.
The horse was seized by the covered and taken to the municipal corral, where it is receiving the necessary care of the technical team, including blood tests and microchipage for future identification.
The animal welfare coordination emphasized the severity of the situation, warning that the way the animal was conducted is dangerous to both the horse and traffic safety, configuring abuse.
Coba said that this year, 240 allegations of animal abuse in Petrópolis have already been registered, 62 of them involving horses.
