On the morning of Tuesday (22), the entity’s general coordinator, Sérgio Borges, updated the state of health of the injured and blamed Petrobras’ recent divestments for the accident, stating that the state’s dismantling has generated increasing risks to workers safety.
According to the union, medical care were held at hospitals in Campos dos Goytacazes and Macaé. Social worker Daniele Araújo and union director Bárbara Bezerra were in the hospital units of Macaé, while Borges accompanied the injured in the hospitals Dr. Beda and Unimed in Campos.
Also according to Sindpetro-NF, on Tuesday (22), it was informed that there are no more oil companies in Campos dos Goytacazes. However, ten workers are hospitalized in Macaé, all at Unimed Hospital, four of them in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Even with the severity of injuries in some cases, patients are aware and in contact with family members and medical staff. One of them, however, is still in serious condition.
Director Barbara Bezerra was nominated by the Union to compose the accident investigation committee. Petrobras, in turn, should still conclude today the landing of workers not essential to the unit’s habitability and safety, which had the operations suspended.
The union said the situation on the Cherne 1 platform is still delicate. The explosion has compromised the unit’s communication systems and also damaged cables that serve other nearby platforms, resulting in communication failures throughout the region.
