An amateur photographer from São Paulo went viral on social media after publishing, according to him, the most important photo he ever took in his life: a lightning bolt in the shape of the map of Brazil.
On his TikTok profile, architect Murilo (@muriloinplaces) posted several videos explaining how he managed to capture the perfect moment with a camera, which was positioned in his window on a stormy day.
The photo, which was actually taken on April 4, 2022, has once again made people talk in recent weeks due to a new video that the photographer made promoting his most notable work.
In the video, which had almost two million views, there is no shortage of comments extolling the low probability of what happened as “Possibility 0.01%. Congratulations, it’s amazing!” and “What are the chances?” Other people also questioned the legitimacy of the photo, but Murilo guarantees that there were no changes in Photoshop.
The tendency of humans to see familiar patterns like people and animals in different situations is known as “Pareidolia”. This is the case of visualizing, for example, a bear in a cloud or a face in a shot. Or the map of Brazil in a ray that lights up the sky.
