Vanzago, abuse in a nursery: children pulled and left to cry alone, in the dark

A child left to cry in a closet, without light or windows. Another, strapped into a stroller, in the dark, with a safety belt. In a nursery school in Vanzago, in the Milan area, the enrolled children were allegedly subjected to a series of abuses and mistreatmentsas reported by the order signed by the investigating judge of the Milan court, which led the owner of the facility and two of her collaborators are under house arrestaccused of aggravated mistreatment of children.

In 2022, following reports from some interns, a prohibitory measure had already been established against the owner and other collaborators, but it was not respected. Judge Giulio Fanales, in his order, based himself on the testimonies found by wiretaps collections.

The children who were victims of this “constant physical and verbal abuse” (the words of the investigating judge) are thought to be 35. The provision describes an episode from September 2023, which one of the suspects spoke about with a colleague: “I never told you what happened before I arrived.” And she reported that a child “locked in the closet down therelocked inside… this guy kept kicking… let’s say he kicked and knocked down some boxes that hit his head.”

Other children would have been abandoned on the potty for even half an hour, or left dirty. Or, let yourself cry your eyes out without consolation.

The suspects “screamed at a short distance from the children’s faces, for punitive purposes, using aggressive tones and vulgar expressions, they pulled them and pulled their ears”, two former collaborators reported, “forcibly making them sit on the chair or high chair, They confined them to the high chair in the dark, leaving them locked in the bathroom alone when they couldn’t sleepthey put them in the crib and locked them in a room alone when they cried and didn’t change them when it was necessary.”

The nursery school manager imposed silence on the collaborators, for fear of losing registrations, as emerges from an interception between her and one of the educators: «If mothers are told that they cry and consequently think that they will cry the next day too and that it is always like this, they feel guilty and consequently then it ends up that they take them away, give them to the grandparents and get the babysitter at home».
