V-Day: 1620 vaccines will be administered in Lombardy, the highest dose

The first 324 vials of anti-covid vaccine destined for Lombardy arrived at the Milanese hospital of Niguarda this morning shortly before 8 – aboard an Army vehicle escorted by the Carabinieri. Waiting for them in a symbolic handover the general manager of the hospital, Marco Bosio, and the heads of the police and military forces. The vials, from which the 1,620 doses destined for Lombard hospitals will be obtained, were then transferred to the hospital pharmacy and taken over by the team of Dr. Alberto Medaglia to then be divided and loaded on Areu’s machines that will transport them to the other 13 points in Lombardy where, in the afternoon, vaccinations will begin.

In Niguarda, on the other hand, in the morning, the first doses will be given to “symbolic” people and always at the forefront during the pandemic.

The subjects identified for the administration of the first doses of vaccine are the presidents of the Medical Associations, the presidents of the Orders of Nurses, the representatives of the categories of Healthcare Professionals (in Milan, she will Adele Gelfo, employed in the Covid intensive care unit of Niguarda), the representatives of the service staff (also in Milan, Mrs. Grace Lend, cleaning officer of the Covid department of the Niguarda Hospital), then the representatives of the emergency world, including prof. Fabrizio Pregliasco, president of Anpas, and therefore of the White Cross and the Red Cross. Similar symbolic priorities will be given to territorial representatives in the various provinces involved in V-Day.

Among the people who made themselves available for the administration of the first doses of the vaccine in Lombardy, there are also well-known faces of the Italian medical-scientific world, including Massimo Galli, Alberto Zangrillo, Antonio Pesenti, Giuliano Rizzardini, Pierangelo Clerici e Carlo Signorelli in Milan, Annalisa Malara, Paolo Grossi in Varese, Giuseppe De Donno a Mantova, Raffaele Bruno a Pavia.

“Sunday 27 will be a symbolic start that gives an important message, as it represents the beginning of a turning point”, underlined theCouncilor for Welfare Giulio Gallera during the press conference to present the vaccination campaign in Lombardy. “The vaccination campaign will then continue throughout Italy from early January, it will be a long, complicated, tiring path, which will involve 10 million citizens in Lombardy and 60 million throughout Italy”.
