During his Super Bowl halftime show, Usher, an R&B and pop icon, packed 30 years of his career into 13 minutes.
The dynamic presentation had it all: a live marching band, hit after hit, classic dance moves from the singer, appearances by big names and even skating.
Singer Alicia Keys was also present at the presentation with her red piano on the game's lawn. She began singing her hit “If I Ain't Got You” and then joined Usher for the duet of “My Boo.”
Usher also made a point of showcasing Atlanta's talent, inviting hip-hop artists Ludacris and Lil Jon to the stage. Also participating in the show were Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am and the singer HER — who had the right to a guitar solo.
Dancers and acrobats accompanied the performance, as well as the marching band from the school Usher attended as a child.
The R&B singer opened the set with “Caught Up” before smoothly transitioning into “U Don’t Have to Call.” It included some of his biggest hits, like “Yeah!” and – skating across the stage – “OMG”.
Usher was 15 years old when he released his first album in 1994. During his three-decade career, he sold more than 80 million records worldwide and won eight Grammys.
The singer was the first independent artist to perform at the Super Bowl halftime.
