Usher reveals why Justin Bieber didn't attend the Super Bowl show

Expectations for Justin Bieber to participate in Usher's show during the Super Bowl halftime show last weekend were high, but they did not materialize.

In an interview with The Breakfast Club podcast, Usher revealed that he contacted Justin to invite him, but the singer did not accept the invitation.

“I honor and acknowledge the fact that my brother… I think it may be that he's just wanting to tell a different story now, and I understand that. We had a brief conversation and we will do something else in the future,” Usher said.

“No love was lost or anything like that. It's a lot of pressure for the Super Bowl, obviously, for me to put on a show. I reached out to everyone. Justin wasn't the only person I talked to about doing the Super Bowl, but that moment might come later,” he added.

The two have had a relationship since the beginning of Justin's career, and Usher is considered his musical “godfather”. They also share the song “Somebody To Love”.

Usher even predicted that Justin Bieber should be the star of the Super Bowl halftime show at some point. “He’s going to sing at the Super Bowl… I’ll go ahead and tell you that for the future. I foresee that at some point in his life because he has a career he deserves. It just didn’t happen, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.”
