Users have until this Sunday (31st) to top up tickets with a fare of R$4.40 in SP

Train and subway users in São Paulo have until this Sunday (31st) to top up their Bilhete Único, Cartão TOP and Cartão BOM at a rate of R$4.40.

Starting next Monday (1st), tickets will be adjusted to R$5.00 across modes. The new price will be valid for both Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) and Metrô, as well as for private lines managed by ViaQuatro and ViaMobilidade.

QR Code tickets, which were issued in 2023 and are in the possession of usurers, will remain valid and can be received at the turnstiles without surcharge.

Transport voucher credits on electronic tickets purchased to date must be used in the system within 90 days from January 1st. The state government's resolution, however, does not establish a deadline for the “common” type.

Public transport fares have not been increased for over three years in São Paulo. In January 2020, tickets started to be sold for the current price of R$4.40. Before that, a ticket cost R$4.30.

At the Metropolitan Urban Transport Company of São Paulo (EMTU), which manages intercity buses, the values will also be readjusted, however, there is variation from line to line, which can be seen here.
