The General Trump government fired as head of the US National Security Agency and Cyber Command told his colleagues to support President Donald Trump’s national security priorities in a farewell note that praised agency and command to combat China and other places.
“Now, more than ever, command and agency need their courage, commitment and sacrifice,” wrote General Tim Haugh in a message to the NSA and Cyber Command employees on Friday (4) that CNN revised. “I ask you to support the president and follow the priorities of our nation,” he added.
Haugh and NSA deputy director Wendy Noble were fired on Wednesday (2), a day after ultra-right activist Laura Lomer met with Trump and defended the resignation, as well as several other national security board officials, said the CNN . At least three NSC employees were also fired.
Loomer, who spread the false conspiracy theory that September 11 was the government’s internal work, claimed without providing evidence in a social media post earlier this Friday that Haugh and Noble were “unfair” to Trump.
Haugh did not mention Loomer or the reason for his dismissal in the farewell note. In the text, he encouraged NSA and Cyber Command employees to redouble their work to collect intelligence on state and non -state actors.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell issued a statement about Haugh’s departure on Friday: “The Department of Defense thanks General Timothy Haugh for his decades of service to our nation, culminating as Cyber Command Commander from the US and director of the National Security Agency. We wish him and his family all the good.”
