The US Department of Defense announced Friday the forthcoming withdrawal of about one thousand US troops developed in Syria, out of all 2,000 acting in the country as part of the fight against jihadists. The US has maintained a military presence in the Syrian territory for years, in the context of an international coalition that have formed a jihadist organization of Islamic State (IK). This organization crashed in 2019, but its cores remain active. The US is going to reduce “US presence in Syria in fewer than a thousand soldiers in the coming months,” said Sean Parnell, a Pentagon spokesman, in a statement released.
