A major storm warning was issued for parts of New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey on Monday afternoon (27), by the government agency Storm Prediction Center.

The alarm clock is in effect for more than 30 million people, until 9pm local time.

New York, Philadelphia and Newark, New Jersey are some of the major metropolitan areas under surveillance.

Wind gusts of up to 105 km/h, hail and tornadoes are the biggest storm threats in the observation areas.

Storms and tornadoes leave dead in the USA

At least 23 people, including four children, have died in the US states of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky and Alabama after severe weather and tornadoes hit the central United States.

The storms – and high temperatures – caused power outages over the weekend.

More than 110 million people are at risk of bad weather this Monday (27), on the East Coast of the country, where there is a category level 2 to 5 threat in some regions.

Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., are at highest risk for tornadoes.

The hubs for major airlines in Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia and Charlotte could experience severe storms, leading to delayed or canceled flights over the next few days.
