Opposing the sale of 35 F-16s to the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan are 35 US congressmen in a letter sent to President Joe Biden.
“We strongly called for the rejection of this sale because it would reward President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for ignoring Turkey’s commitments as an ally to the United States and NATO and for the massive human rights abuses his regime continues to commit at home and abroad. abroad” they state, among other things, in the letter.
“Erdogan’s use of alarmist tactics that run counter to the common good of the NATO alliance should come as no surprise,” they say.
Referring to American weapons and their misuse by the Turkish president, the MPs point out that “they have been used repeatedly to breach the sovereign territory of NATO allies and partners such as Greece and Cyprus. These are hardly the actions of a committed ally in the United States and Europe.”

I sent a bipartisan letter to @POTUS today expressing opposition to the proposed sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey. We must not support Turkey’s military until tangible steps are taken to stop Erdoğan’s destabilizing actions and violations of international law. pic.twitter.com/mY2dAiTcyx
