His government American president Joe Biden intends to supply them Ukrainian armed forces with electronic equipment to convert simple, unguided bombs in “smart”, in other words directed with the help of satellites, which would allow much more accurate strikes against Russian military positions from the air, the Washington Post reported in its online edition, citing unnamed US officials.
The report does not make clear how many such kits to convert bombs into JDAMs (“Joint Direct Attack Munitions”) Washington intends to send to Kyiv, or whether a final decision has been made. The backbone of the Ukrainian air force consists of aging Soviet-designed fighters, and the Pentagon is generally looking for ways to upgrade them, rather than sending in new, Western aircraft, which would require lengthy training for their operators and maintainers, notes the Washington Post.
The Biden administration is planning to send Ukraine advanced electronic equipment that converts unguided aerial munitions into “smart bombs” that can target Russian military positions with a high degree of accuracy, according to senior US officials. https://t.co/m59rudZiEN
