The US-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) will meet in France May 15-16. This is the second meeting of a body created last year to improve tense transatlantic trade relations and help allied democracies compete better with China. The EU Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager announced the council’s plans.

“This forum is critical to global leadership on a range of key issues,” she tweeted.
US Trade Representative Katherine Tai also said that TTC would solve common problems.
The first meeting was held last September 29 in Pittsburgh with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Catherine Tai, EU Trade Chief Valdis Dombrovskis and Margrethe Vestager.
One of the council’s goals is to take a more coherent, unified approach to curbing the power of the tech giants. Another goal is to set standards and rules for the 21st century.
