Fox Business journalist Eleanor Terrett published a letter from the US Chamber of Digital Commerce sent to Vice President Kamala Harris. The chamber called on Harris and the Democratic Party to take a more progressive stance on digital assets.
Specifically, the House recommended that Harris use pro-digital asset language in the Democratic platform to reflect the importance of cryptocurrencies and blockchain in the modern financial sector. The House’s message states that emerging technologies will drive economic growth and increase access to financial services.
The Chamber of Digital Commerce also advised Harris to consider crypto-friendly candidates in future elections. Having a vice presidential candidate who understands and supports the digital asset industry could greatly increase the Democratic Party’s appeal to the crypto community and tech-savvy voters.
The letter’s authors also noted the need to engage with crypto industry leaders to create a more favorable regulatory environment for digital assets. By collaborating with stakeholders in the crypto space, the Democratic Party can better understand the challenges and opportunities of the rapidly evolving cryptocurrency sector, the letter states.
“We hope that under your leadership the Democratic Party will become more supportive of digital assets. This is what millions of Americans who believe in the transformative power of cryptocurrencies and emerging technologies are waiting for,” the Chamber of Digital Commerce said.
Earlier, the US Chamber of Digital Commerce called the arrest of top managers of the largest crypto exchange Binance in Nigeria a kidnapping. In March, the Chamber supported the crypto exchange Kraken in a lawsuit with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), claiming that the platform trades lines of code, not securities.
