US and Jordan airdrop more humanitarian aid to Gaza

The US carried out a joint operation with the Royal Jordanian Air Force this Sunday (10) to bring humanitarian aid to northern Gaza, US Central Command said in a statement this Sunday (10).

It said the humanitarian airdrops contributed to ongoing efforts by the U.S. and government partner nations to alleviate human suffering. “These airdrops are part of a sustained effort, and we continue to plan for follow-up air deliveries.”

The joint operation included “11,500 meals” that will provide “life-saving humanitarian assistance in northern Gaza.”

The US has followed other countries in air aid as it tries to get more supplies to the enclave surrounded by Israeli forces. But aid agencies say the airdrops are an ineffective way of delivering aid and have called on the US to do more to pressure its ally Israel to open land routes.

The Gaza Civil Defense said this Sunday (10) that the use of aid in Gaza did not “limit the hunger crisis”, but “increased the number of casualties” and led to casualties and injuries. They did not specify how many people were killed or injured, nor from which countries aid was delivered.
