Sandra de Moraes Gimenes Bosco, professor of the Veterinary Medicine course at the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp), was dismissed for having participated in the acts of January 8, in Brasília, when radicals invaded and destroyed premises of the Planalto Palace, Congress and the Federal Supreme Court.
She would have posted on her Facebook profile a call for the caravan that left Bauru, in the interior of São Paulo, towards the capital of the country. The publication was deleted, but the teacher was identified as an alleged organizer of the excursion.
On social media, Sandra manifests herself as an enthusiast of former president Jair Bolsonaro. She is not among those arrested in Brasília and now appearing as defendants before the Federal Supreme Court.
According to its lawyer, Rodrigo Saliba, the basis used by Unesp ‘is that the acts it committed would fall within the prohibition, contained in the Civil Servant Statute, of proceeding in private life in a way that honors the public function’.
This is one of the behaviors described as ’employee duties’ in the São Paulo State Employee Statute.
The dismissal, arbitrated in a disciplinary administrative process, was published in the Official State Gazette last Friday (28). On Tuesday (2) the 30-day period for appeal to the University Council began to run. Saliba says she will appeal.
In a note, the University says that the disciplinary process ‘respected the constitutional principle of broad defense’.

Sandra is a veterinarian and a doctor from Unesp. She had been a professor at the institution since 2010 and taught courses in Veterinary Medicine, Zootechnics, Biomedicine, Medicine, Nursing, Nutrition and Biological Sciences, in addition to working in postgraduate courses.
The report contacted the Paulista State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho, through its Press Office. The entity reiterated the note already released on Saturday, 29.
Note on the application of the penalty of dismissal to teachers
Regarding the dismissal penalty applied to Professor Sandra de Moraes Gimenes Bosco, from the Institute of Biosciences on the Botucatu campus, a disciplinary infraction of a very serious nature was characterized, after a careful investigation carried out within the scope of the Disciplinary Administrative Process, instituted by the university unit as a result of the participation of the professor in the acts of January 8, 2023. The aforementioned process, initiated on January 10, respected the constitutional principle of full defense, which was attested by the University’s Legal Department, and proposed to the dean the dismissal of the servant after the verification of the violation of functional duties provided for in the Statute of Civil Public Servants of the State. The employee has the right to appeal the decision to the University Council.
