The benefits of perfume are greatest when used correctly, say experts. Therefore, spraying fragrances on clothing or hair, for example, may not be the best idea.
In the case of fabrics, the main risk is that the formulation of cosmetics damages the clothes, causing stains on the garments.
“I don’t recommend spraying it on clothes, because perfume formulations were not developed with fabrics in mind. You may have some perfumes that contain some ingredients, or even dyes, that can damage the garment”, clarifies perfume specialist Alessandra Zupo.
The consultant explains that the use of perfumes in clothes causes the impression of greater fixation, due to deeper absorption and slower evaporation. However, “the skin is the ideal place for the perfume to be applied, because you will follow the evolution, the changes that this perfume will bring”.
Just as it is not indicated that common cosmetics are used in clothing, the use of articles in hair is also not recommended. This is because the conventional formulation of perfumes includes alcohol, which can damage the hair.
“The ideal is to use perfumes suitable for hair, because they will have a formulation compatible with the hair. It won’t damage and can even provide hydration or some benefit beyond perfuming”, recommends Zupo.
How to get the best result when using perfumes?
The combination of appropriate locations and skin hydration is the successful formula for better perfume fixation, guarantees Zupo.
“Depending on the degree of hydration of the skin, you can also have good perfume performances, with increased duration on the skin. This happens because some chemical reactions occur, some connections that happen when the skin is hydrated, with an intact skin barrier, he explains.
About the best places to invest in sprays, the specialist recommends “warmer” places on the body, where there is great blood circulation, such as the wrists, behind the ears, neck and bends of the knees.
