Ukrainian forces shelled village in Russian Bryansk region – “No casualties”

Ukrainian forces bombed a village in Russia’s Bryansk region on the border with Ukraine early today, the local governor said in a social media post, a day after explosion which resulted in the derailment of a commercial train in the area.

“In the morning, the Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled the village of Kurkovychi in the district of Starodubsky municipality,” Bryansk governor Alexander Bogomaz said in a post on his Telegram channel. “There are no victims. As a result of the bombing, a fire broke out in one of the residences. All emergency services are on scene.”

Reuters was unable to independently confirm this report. Ukraine almost never publicly takes responsibility for attacks within it of Russia and in Russian-controlled territories in Ukraine. The army, however, gives daily reports on the activities and movements of troops in the battle areas.

Yesterday, an unknown explosive device caused a freight train to derail, Bogomaz said.
