Ukraine: Satellite imagery shows Russian 13km armored convoy heading for Donbass

New satellite images from Ukraine show a large Russian convoy of armor and artillery units heading east into the country, while Ukrainians prepare to face the Russian invasion.

The images, posted on Twitter by Maxar Technologies, show the military convoy, about 13 kilometers long, crossing the town of Velykyi Burluk in the Kharkiv region and heading south.

According to analysts, this procession is intended for the first lines in Luhansk and Donetsk.

Russian forces withdrew from key strategic positions around Kyiv last week, following fierce resistance from the Ukrainian armed forces, announcing they would focus on Donbas.

The Russians destroyed a Ukrainian convoy

This Sunday, according to the Interfax agency, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian fighters destroyed a Ukrainian convoy of armored vehicles.

“The KA-52 attack helicopters … destroyed weapons and military equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces,” the ministry said in a statement.

The news agency reported that the ministry released videos of KA-52 attack helicopters flying at extremely low altitudes, firing rockets and firing. However, Reuters reports that the location and time of the attack have not been clarified.

5,600 war crimes investigations have been launched

Ukraine has launched 5,600 war crimes investigations allegedly committed in its territory since the Russian invasion began, Ukraine’s Attorney General Irina Venediktova told Sky News today.

Describing Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “key war criminal of the 21st century,” the Ukrainian attorney general said 5,600 cases of alleged war crimes and 500 Russian war criminals had been identified.

He mainly referred to the attack on the Kramatorsk railway station (east) in which 52 civilians including five children were killed in a strike attributed to a Russian missile. “Absolutely, it’s a war crime,” Venediktova said, adding that she had “evidence” that Russia was behind the attack. “These people just wanted to be saved, they wanted to get away.”

He thanked British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who paid a surprise visit to Kyiv on Saturday, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and promised to provide new weapons to Ukraine. “What Putin did in Bhutan and in Irpin are war crimes that have tarnished his reputation,” said Boris Johnson, referring to the two small towns near the Ukrainian capital that have become symbols of the atrocities of the Russian invasion. “It’s a really big support for us,” Venediktova said, referring to Johnson’s first visit to Ukraine by an official of the Group of Seven (G7) after the invasion began.
