Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said yesterday that he had held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky about the security of Russia’s Kursk nuclear power plant amid Ukraine’s incursion into the region. On August 6, Kiev launched an unprecedented incursion into Russian territory in the Kursk region, sparking fighting less than 50 km from the nuclear power plant. Grossi visited the station last week and warned that its proximity to the battlefield raging in the region is “extremely serious”.
