Ukraine: Forced recruitment of civilians by Russia in occupied territories complains Kyiv

Ukraine’s general staff has accused the Russian military of forcibly recruiting civilians in the occupied territories in the east of the country.

In addition to the young people who are being recruited against their will, doctors are being ordered in Kherson, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv, according to a post by Ukrainian generals on the social networking site Facebook.

Medical personnel were forced to provide care to wounded Russian soldiers at the front in the Wofchank and Kharkiv regions, under the threat of being executed otherwise.

The allegations of the Ukrainian staff are impossible to verify independently.

Kyiv and the British Ministry of Defense emphasize that the recruitment of Ukrainian civilians in the Russian army is a violation of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict.
