The director general of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, at the end of her visit to Ukraine this Tuesday (21), said that she hopes to see a gradual economic recovery in the country “throughout the year”.
Next Friday (24), the invasion of the country by Russia completes one year.
In reiterating support for Ukraine, the Director-General stated that it will be possible to carry out “a complete IMF financing program” dedicated to the country, as a result of the large donations raised through the Program Monitoring tool with Board involvement (PMB , in the acronym in English) of the institution.
During her speech, Georgieva congratulated the Ukrainian economy for its resilience so far, amid the conflict with Russia, in addition to saying that the country’s authorities are working with a focus on “a period of transformation and accession to the European Union (EU)” .
