The UK on Monday announced £100 million (£250 million) in seed funding for a task force that will help develop foundation models – a type of artificial intelligence used by chatbots such as ChatGPT – for use in areas such as health and education.
“Harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence offers enormous opportunities to grow our economy, create better-paying jobs and build a better future through advances in health and safety,” said British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
“By investing in emerging technologies through our new specialist task force, we can continue to lead the way in the development of safe and reliable artificial intelligence as part of shaping a more innovative economy in the UK.”
