Two people were injured after a boat caught fire in the sea of Caraguatatuba, on the north coast of São Paulo, on Thursday afternoon (28). According to the Maritime Fire Brigade (GBMar), the accident occurred at Praia do Capricórnio and eleven tourists from Santo André, in the ABC region of São Paulo, were on the boat.
According to firefighters, nine people were removed from the boat by a vessel passing through the same location, and were not injured. The other two victims needed to be rescued by the group. One of them was feeling ill due to high blood pressure, and the other had a head injury. Both were taken to Santa Casa de Caraguatatuba.
Even in flames, the boat sailed to Lagoa Azul beach, and firefighters even isolated the region to prevent bathers.
Also according to GBMar, the Navy and Environmental Policing were called and the cause of the fire will be investigated by the competent authorities.
