Two out of ten Brazilians (21%) say they have witnessed a woman being sexually harassed in the country in the last year. The number is above the world average, which is 14%. The data are from the “International Women’s Day” survey, carried out by Ipsos.
With 32 participating nations, the survey showed that the country with the worst percentage was Thailand, with 30%. At the other end is Japan, with 4%.
In addition, the survey showed that almost four out of ten Brazilians (36%) said they had witnessed sexist comments within their social circle in the last year. Statistics also above the global average of 27%.
Chile leads the ranking, with 45%. Japan is at the bottom of the list, where only 6% of respondents said they had seen sexist comments in the past year.
The “International Women’s Day” survey was conducted online, with 22,508 respondents, one thousand Brazilians, aged between 16 and 74 years old, between December 22, 2022 and January 6, 2023.
