Two soldiers from the Israel were killed in border incident that occurred on Saturday morning on the southern border with Egyptas announced by the Israeli armed forces.

The Israeli army had initially refused to confirm these deaths, which had been reported by Israeli media, because the families had not yet been notified.

In addition, the armed forces said that soldiers killed an “attacker” in an exchange of fire on the Israeli-Egyptian border in the Negev desert.

“During a confrontation with an attacker on Israeli soil (…) the soldiers responded with live fire and neutralized him”, the army had announced. A military spokesman later clarified that the attacker was killed.
