On Saturday, Undersecretary of State for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion Costas Frangogiannis will leave for Saudi Arabia on a two-day official visit with a large business delegation.
The mission includes the Minister of Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis, the Deputy Minister of Development Ioannis Tsakiris and the Secretary General of Investments, Orestis Kavalakis, as well as the Deputy Minister of Tourism Sofia Zacharaki and the Secretary General of the Ministry. Tourism Olympia Anastassopoulou. The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs will also be accompanied by the Secretary General of International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Giannis Smyrlis, the CEO of Enterprise Greece, George Filiopoulos, and the General Manager of OAEP, Grigoris Stamatopoulos.
The mission includes high-ranking executives of 43 companies from the sectors of construction, shipping, tourism, pharmaceutical industry, energy, cybersecurity, banks, as well as institutional actors, such as the chairman of the Executive Committee of SEV Efthymios Vidalis Hellenic Development Investment Bank, Haris Lambropoulos and members of the Boards of Directors of EVEA and SEVE. Also participating is the president of TEMES SA, Achilleas Konstantakopoulos, who represents the Greek side in the newly established Business Council of Greece – Saudi Arabia, which was developed to facilitate economic cooperation between the two countries.
Of particular importance is the Greek-Saudi Investment Forum, which will take place on the second day of the visit, March 13, with the aim of strengthening and deepening economic and business relations between the two countries and focusing on B2B business meetings, organized by Invest Saudi and Enterprise Greece under the auspices of the General Secretariat for International Economic Relations.
In parallel with the work of the Forum and the next day, a series of working meetings of the Greek Ministers with the Ministers of Investment, Trade, Foreign Affairs, Energy, Culture, Tourism and the head of the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is planned.
The business mission program includes, on the first day of the trip, a visit and presentation from the Saudi side of the ambitious cultural project to transform the historic city of Al Oula in the Medina region into a tourist and cultural hub in a sustainable way. It is a project planned to be implemented in three phases between 2023, 2030 and 2035, with a total budget of $ 15 billion.
