Twitter is facing more employee layoffs, company executives said on Wednesday, as leaders try to face complaints and a legal battle with entrepreneur Elon Musk.
Employee turnover is currently 18.3%, Twitter executives told staff at a meeting, the audio of which was heard by Reuters. Before Musk made his takeover bid, that ratio fluctuated from 14% to 16%, which was consistent with competitors, executives previously said.
The chaos linked to Musk’s proposed takeover prompted some employees to resign, employees told Reuters.
The team meeting came a day after former Twitter security chief Peiter “Mudge” Zatko said the social media company misled federal regulators about its defenses against hackers and spam accounts.
Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal has tried to calm employees down, saying Zatko’s accusations are technically and historically inaccurate.
Also Wednesday, attorneys for Twitter and Musk attended a hearing in Delaware to decide whether the company will have to provide documents and data requested by Musk to challenge the company’s estimates of spam accounts.
