The director of “Twilight” , Catherine Hardwicke revealed, in an interview with the podcast “Happy Sad Confused”, on Monday (20), that the studio responsible for the saga did not find Robert Pattinson handsome enough to play Edward Cullen.
According to her, they asked if it would be possible to make him more handsome for the role.
“When he came to my house, he had black bangs in his hair and he was kind of out of shape because he was in bars all the time,” he recalled of Pattinson’s audition.
“After we did the fun tests [com Kristen] at my house for a few hours, the next morning I looked at all the footage I shot and recorded and thought it worked not just in person but on screen as well,” he added.
“So I sent it to Summit [Entertainment]. They called me back and asked, ‘Do you think you can make this guy look good?’ I said yes. Did you see his cheekbones? We’re making a change to his hair and everything and he’s going to start working out and he’s going to look great,” he said.
Starring Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, “Twilight” was released in 2008. The plot is based on the book of the same name by Stephenie Meyer.
