Rescuers from the Turkish Disaster Management Agency (AFAD) are today starting searches to find people who may be held in underground dungeons of the Sednaya prison in Syria, an AFAD spokesman told AFP today. “Our president Okai Memish will hold a press conference at around 13:30 (local time) in front of Sednaya prison and will make known details of the ongoing investigations,” explained AFAD press officer Kubilai Ozyurt. Nearly 80 AFAD rescuers, equipped “with advanced search devices”, will begin working in the prison to find inmates who may still be trapped there, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency reported. The prison complex may have several underground levels, fueling suspicions that there may be underground dungeons there that have yet to be discovered.
