Turkey: Launches a new attack on Greece with fake news – “They shoot the migrants and throw them into the sea”

An attack with new fake news was launched by Turkey towards Greece following its usual tactics. Specifically, the Ministry of Interior of Turkey claims that “Greece uses violence against immigrants – even women or children – confiscating their clothes and money, beating and shooting them.”

In the announcement of the Turkish Ministry of the Interior, there is first a reference to the Minister of Immigration, Notis Mitarakis “whose country is often on the agenda for inhumane treatment of migrantsis once again employing tactics to manipulate, using nude photos immigrants for which there is neither location nor date.’

“We know very well how desperate Greece is, after our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s speech to the UN General Assembly depicting Greece’s inhumane tactics. It is very obvious that Greece is trying to cover up systematic illegalities pushbacks they systematically confiscate all of the migrants’ belongings – including their money, phone, ID and passports – throwing them into the sea, taking all their clothes and shoes, beating them naked with batons, injuring them with electric shock devices, shooting them with rubber bullets or putting them in worn-out lifeboats“, says the announcement of the Turkish Ministry of the Interior afterwards.

“For years” is “this inhumane treatment and the actions of Greece”, notes Turkey, speaking of “images and international reports depicting pierced boats, abused migrants, even shooting to kill them. Just last month they punctured the boat of a group of migrants – including babies – who were trying to reach Italy from Lebanon. Having lost all their valuables, these people were put to death. 9-month-old Asım and his 4-year-old brother, Abdülvahap, died as a result of this inhumane treatment. Now, Greece is unable to give explanations, on the world stage, for these inhuman actions and tries to put the blame on Turkey through slander.”

And he adds: “Although there has been intense pressure on Greece for what it is doing, it has not taken a single step back and continues to violate human rights”, accusing Athens of violence, “even against women and children, by confiscating clothes and money of immigrants seeking entry into their country and confiscation of their valuables illegally. All of the above actions are against international law“, appealing to Greece “which has not yet given an explanation for the drowned babies in the Aegean, to stop the inhumane treatment anti-immigrant and immigration policy that leads to deaths“, concluding that Turkey as a country has adhered to international norms “even for irregular migrants without discriminating, following a humanitarian approach to our migration policy”.
