Trump will attend the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral on his first trip abroad since the election

President-elect of the United States Donald Trump said this Monday (2) that he will travel to Paris on Saturday (7) to participate in the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral, on his first trip abroad since winning the American elections.

The Gothic masterpiece, one of the most visited monuments in the French capital, will reopen its doors this week to tourists and Catholic faithful, after its destruction by fire more than five years ago.

Major reconstruction works have restored the 12th-century cathedral, its tower, vaults, flying buttresses, stained glass windows and carved stone gargoyles to their former glory, with white stones and gold decorations.

Trump, who is sworn in as the next US president on January 20, praised French President Emmanuel Macron’s government in a post on social media site Truth Social on Monday.

“President Emmanuel Macron has done a wonderful job ensuring Notre Dame is restored to its peak level of glory, and then some. It will be a very special day for everyone!” Trump wrote.

When will Donald Trump be inaugurated as President of the United States?
