Trump says Venezuela agrees to receive irregular migrants in the US

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday (1) that Venezuela agreed to receive all Venezuelan irregular migrants captured in the United States and provide transportation for his return.

“Venezuela agreed to receive back all the illegal Venezuelans who were camped in the US, including gang members like Aragua Tren,” Trump said in a social truth. He also stated that Venezuela agreed to provide transport for migrants.

The Venezuelan government did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The announcement of the Republican President came the day after the meeting of the US envoy, Richard Grenell, with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, on Friday (31), in which he brought back six US citizens.

The Trump administration stated that the main objectives of Grenell’s trip were to ensure the release of detained Americans and deporting Venezuelans back to their home country.

The White House said the high level visit does not mean that the United States recognizes Maduro as Venezuela’s legitimate leader. Both countries have a recent troubled history, marked by broken relationships, sanctions and accusations of conspiracy for blow.

Grenell stated that there were no financial concessions or other mature types.

“The only reward for Maduro was my physical presence, the first senior official of the US to visit the country in years,” he was quoted by the *Wall Street Journal *. “It was a great gift for him to have a visit from a president of President Trump.”

Maduro adopted a conciliatory tone after the meeting, saying that he and Trump gave “the first step. We hope this can continue. ”

Trump praised the agreement as another victory in his attempt to get Latin American and Central countries to receive illegal migrants.

“We are in the process of removing records of illegal immigrants from all countries, and all countries have agreed to accept these illegal immigrants back,” said Trump.

Last Sunday, the United States and Colombia avoided a trade war after the White House said the South American nation agreed to accept military aircraft carrying deported immigrants.

Mexico refused to accept a US military deportation flight days after Trump took office, but said he received non -Mexican immigrants from the United States last week. Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum said Central Nations could also reach similar agreements with the US to accept deported from other countries.

Since taking office on January 20, Trump has issued a series of executive orders to repress illegal immigration, including actions aimed at deporting records of US immigrants without legal status.
