United States President Donald Trump said the attacks of the US military in recent weeks “decimated” the Houthis – a rebel group of Yemen supported by Iran.
The US offensive against the Houthis resumed on March 15, leaving dozens of injuries, according to the Ministry of Health controlled by the rebels. Last year, under the Biden government, the Americans performed other attacks.
“We attack them every day and nights – increasingly strong. Their skills that threaten maritime transport and the region are being quickly destroyed,” Trump said in a Truth Social.
Also according to the US President, many Houthi fighters and leaders were killed with the offensive. He warned that the attacks will continue until the group “is no longer a threat to freedom of navigation.”
“The choice for the Houthis is clear: stop shooting on US ships, and we will stop shooting you. Otherwise, we’re just starting, and the real pain is yet to come, both for the Houthis and their sponsors in Iran,” he concluded.
The clash between the US and the rebel group supported by Iran has dragged on since mid -2022, when offensive against American commercial ships were attributed to the Houthis.
The conflict in the Red Sea region, which is an important commercial route, intensified in 2023, after the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In protest against the action of the defense forces of Israel (FDI) and US support in Gaza, a series of attacks were attributed and claimed by the Houthis.
