President Donald Trump said the United States is “very close” to reach a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Also this Friday (25), US special envoy Steve Witkoff met Russian President Vladimir Putin at Kremlin.
“We are meeting with Putin right now. We have a lot of things in progress and I think in the end, we will close a lot of good agreements, including tariff and commercial agreements, but we will try to get out of the war,” Trump pointed out to the White House.
“I think we’re very close [de um acordo]”The president added. This is Witkoff’s fourth trip to Russia since Trump took office.
Anyway, the American leader said that “there is no deadline” to reach an agreement, but he wants to “do it as soon as possible.”
This contradicts previous statements by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who warned last week that the US would abandon efforts to mediate peace “in a few days” unless there was significant progress.
