Trump says Putin’s terms to end war in Ukraine are unacceptable

Former President Donald Trump said this Thursday (27) in the debate of CNN, that the terms Russian President Vladimir Putin has put forward to end Russia’s war in Ukraine are “not acceptable.”

Putin said Russia would only end its war in Ukraine if Kiev surrendered all four regions claimed by Moscow and abandoned its bid to join NATO.

After initially dodging the question posed by Dana Bash, CNN at the presidential debate in Atlanta, Trump was pressed for the second time: “Are Putin’s terms acceptable to you?”

“No, they are not acceptable,” Trump said.

Trump again said he would end the war in Ukraine if re-elected, as he has done regularly during the campaign, and once again did not provide any details on how he would end the war, which is now in its third year.

Historical debate

The CNN debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump is the first of the 2024 presidential race, reviving the confrontation between the Democrat and the Republican for the White House.

In a historic event, this is the first time a sitting president and a former president have debated in the United States.

The debate takes place at CNN studios in Atlanta, Georgia.
