Trump says he wants nuclear agreement with Iran, but does not rule out attack

President Donald Trump responded to a report that he said he had prevented Israel from attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities while the US conducts negotiations on the Tehran nuclear program.

“I wouldn’t say that [o ataque israelense] It was discarded, ”said the Republican to reporters at the White House Oval Hall on Thursday (16).

Trum pondered that “no hurry to do so because I think Iran has a chance to have a great country and live happily without death.”

“I would like to see this, this is my first option. If there is a second option, I think it would be very bad for Iran. And I think Iran is wanting to talk,” Trump said during a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

“I hope they want to talk, it will be very good for them to talk, and I would like to see Iran prosper in the future, if it comes out fantastically well,” he added.

On Wednesday (16), The New York Times reported that Trump asked Israel not to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities next month to allow US negotiations with Iran to unfold.

The attack could impact the commitments planned by Trump’s national security team in the coming days.

The report was released a few days before the meeting scheduled between Trump’s foreign envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday (19) in Rome.

Today, the president suggested that his focus is to prevent Iran from giving a nuclear weapon, telling reporters: “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, it is quite simple.”

“We are not wanting to take their industry, we are not wanting to take their lands, we are not – all we are saying is: you can not have a nuclear weapon,” he added.
