Trump says he plans “financial scholarships” in a self -supporting program

United States President Donald Trump stated in an interview broadcast on Tuesday that he planned to launch a new program that would offer money to irregular immigrants in the country to voluntarily leave.

Trump stated that such a “self -support program” would include some financial assistance and the prospect of returning to the country legally later.

“We will give them financial aid,” the president told Rachel Campos-Duffy of Fox News, according to official transcription of an interview recorded on Monday (14).

He kept stating, “Let’s give them some money and a plane ticket, and then we will work with them. If they are good, if we want them back, we will work with them to bring them back as soon as possible.”

A White House spokesman stated that he had nothing to add to Trump’s comments.

The president, a Republican, promised to deport a record number of unhealthy migrants in the US and tested the limits of American law to increase prisons and deportations.

His government also pressured immigrants to help in their own expulsion.

Immigrants are being asked to signal their “intention to leave” using a US border customs and protection application called CBP Home.
