President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is open to deporting US citizens considered violent criminals.
“If it’s a local criminal, I have no problem,” said the president at the Oval Hall alongside El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, adding that Attorney General Pam Bondi is studying the laws “right now.”
El Salvador agreed to house violent US criminals and receive deported from any nationality, the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced in an unprecedented – and legally problematic – agreement that alarmed critics and human rights groups.
“If they are criminals and beat people with baseball tacos on the head of someone who is 90 and if they rape 87 -year -old women in Coney Island – Brooklyn. Yes, yes, that includes them. Why do you think there is a special category of person? They are as bad as anyone who comes.
Trump said it is “totally in favor” of this because, according to him, with the current partnership with Bukele, the US can do things “with less money and have great security.”
He praised the way Bukele deals with a large number of prisoners, saying that he does “a great job with it.”
Trump added that the US is also negotiating with “others.”
“And I’m talking about violent people. I’m talking about really bad people. Really bad people. As bad as the ones who are coming in,” the president concluded.
