Trump says any “problem” on Election Day will come from “the enemy within”

Former US President Donald Trump said he does not expect chaos from his supporters or foreign actors on Election Day, but argued that the bigger “problem” is the “enemy within” and “radical left-wing lunatics”.

In an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, Trump was asked if he expects “chaos” on Election Day after the Justice Department arrested and charged an Afghan national for allegedly planning a terrorist attack on Election Day.

“No, I don’t think so — not on the side that votes for Trump,” said the former president in an interview that aired Sunday (13) on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

Trump, whose supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in an attempt to thwart Congress’ certification of his 2020 election defeat, has argued that the biggest threat on Election Day is the country’s “sick people.”

“And I think this should be easily resolved, if necessary, by the National Guard, or if really necessary by the military, because they cannot let this happen,” he added.

US Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign condemned Trump’s comments about deploying the National Guard against people in the country, saying they should “alarm all Americans.”

“Donald Trump is suggesting that his fellow Americans are worse ‘enemies’ than foreign adversaries, and he is saying he would use the military against them,” Harris-Walz spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement.

“What Donald Trump is promising is dangerous, and returning him to office is simply a risk Americans cannot take.”
