Former President of the United States Donald Trump passed by a location where a Republican party political convention is being held in Clive, Iowa, this Monday (15), to ask the state's citizens to vote for him.
“If you want, leave [de casa] and vote. You are the beginning. This is the beginning. Right now, it's starting. And this is the beginning of something very important. I think it’s the most important election in the history of our country,” Trump told the crowd.
Trump made brief comments, praising his victories in Iowa in the 2016 and 2020 general elections and criticizing President Joe Biden and his presidency.
“I call him Crooked Joe Biden [expressão para desonesto ou criminoso], he is the worst president in the history of our country. He is the most incompetent and most corrupt president in the history of our country and that’s not even close,” he claimed.
Trump wins Iowa, CNN projects
Former United States President Donald Trump will win the Iowa Republican caucuses, according to a projection by the CNN, receiving the majority of votes from those who attended the vote.
This marks a first victory in his quest for nomination to contest the 2024 presidential elections for the Republican party.
The outcome of the competition will help set the tone – and duration – of the electoral race going forward.
Trump's comments about the elections being “the most important” were made before the projection of the CNN.
