Trump plans to resume relationship with Kim Jong-un, leader of North Korea

United States President Donald Trump said he plans to resume his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in his second term.

In a joint press conference with Japan Prime Minister Shigero Ishiba, the Republican said he thinks “it is a great asset for everyone I get along with him [Kim Jong-un]”.

“I can say that Japan likes the idea, because its relationship is not very good with him [Kim]”Commented the US President.

“If I can have a relationship not only with him, but with others around the world where there seems to be difficulties, I think it’s a tremendous asset to the world, not just for the United States,” the US president added.

In 2019, Trump became the first president of the United States to step on North Korean soil. At the time, he met Kim.

Ishiba was asked by Kaitlan Collins, from CNN, If he wants Trump to resume contact with the North Korean leader. The premie stressed that this is something the US needs to decide for themselves.

He also pointed out that he thinks “it would be great” to solve problems with the country, which includes denuclearization.

“We would like to continue cooperating with them,” said Ishiba.
