United States President Donald Trump said he will not be sure he will appear to Pope Francis’ funeral in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican City.
“I don’t know yet. We’ll be informed about it right now,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Monday morning (21), when the pontiff’s death was confirmed.
Asked if I would like to go to the funeral, Trump replied, “Well, I don’t know. I just need to see the time. We just lowered the flags.” Trump had ordered the flags to be raised in half a mast on Monday morning in honor of the Pope’s death.
Moreover, Trump, whom the Pope had criticized for his repression of immigration, said agreeing with Pope Francis’ tolerance message about migrants.
“Yes, I agree, I really agree,” said Trump. “Serious.”
Commenting on the Pope’s legacy, Trump said, “He is a very good man who loved the world. And he especially loved the people who were going through difficult times. And that’s good for me.”
