United States President Donald Trump had a “very productive discussion” with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, before Pope Francis’ funeral in Vatican City, said a White House authority.
Steven Cheung, White House Communications Director, said the leaders “met in particular today and had a very productive conversation.”
“More details about the meeting will be released soon,” he said.
The Ukrainian presidency had also reported that the meeting was.
Zelensky had already expressed willingness to meet Trump while they were in Italy, although the American did not tell reporters planned or not talking to the other head of state in Rome.
Leaders have not met personally since the chatter at the White House Oval Hall in February, where Trump scolded Zelensky for not showing enough gratitude for the American support in the fight against Russia.
