Trump calls Kamala’s economic proposals ‘Maduro’s plan’

US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump criticized Kamala Harris’ economic strategy during a press conference at his New Jersey golf club on Thursday (15).

The former president suggested that Kamala’s proposal was akin to “communist price controls,” a concept he called the “Maduro Plan.”

“She’s running with the Maduro plan. We call it the Maduro plan, like something straight out of Venezuela or the Soviet Union,” Trump said.

He added: “This announcement is an admission that their economic policies have utterly failed and have indeed caused a catastrophe for our country. And beyond that, a catastrophe in the world.”

Trump was surrounded by two tables laden with everyday grocery items, including milk and cereal. The display was clearly intended to underscore his point about rising prices under the Biden administration, for which he blamed Harris.

The event hosted by Trump was a strategic move to distinguish himself from Vice President Kamala.

Since taking over President Joe Biden’s role as the Democratic ticket’s leader in late July, Kamala has been notably hesitant around the press. However, she has stated her intention to conduct her first formal interview by the end of the month.
